Money is not the "root of all evil" Money is "a" root for all evil. My belief is the bible states that the "money is "a" root for all evil" not making money evil, but the LOVE of money and how people go about obtaining it. Such as greed, lying, stealing, etc. Then when that money is acquired it is not used for good, but for evil. I believe the interpretation of 1 Timothy 6:10 is the root is greed; the desire to have money. Second, this love of money is the root of all "evil." It is what the money is used for which is the deciding factor of "good" or "evil" and how a person goes about obtaining their riches.

As for tithes and offerings, or passing the plate, it is a sign of faith that the money will be used in the growth of the church and that God will multiple and honor his people for offering and tithing. "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malachi 3:7-11 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38). It's all about beliving in these scriptures and putting them into action. God will honor you for your good work and giving. Preachers might not use the money to "build the church" but God, Universal Power, High Power, whatever you may believe it to be, recognizes your spirit and will honor you, no matter what. It's all good if its not used for bad.
