This in the sense that we have developed such an irrational attitude of *entitlement* and impatience for instant gratification, that to behave otherwise makes one stand out. An earnest statement of gratitude innately requires response, but Americans are fearful of real, earnest dialogue. -Phil Gratitude is seemingly the simplest, easiest, and most obvious response to most of our daily experience, yet somehow it has become (in our culture, at least) awkward.
