		<description>Gratitude is seemingly the simplest, easiest, and most obvious response to most of our daily experience, yet somehow it has become (in our culture, at least) awkward.  This in the sense that we have developed such an irrational attitude of *entitlement* and impatience for instant gratification, that to behave otherwise makes one stand out.  An earnest statement of gratitude innately requires response, but Americans are fearful of real, earnest dialogue.
