Just rememeber that if laughing brings up other emotions--tears, anger--to let them out. Forcing something too much is never best. If you are in need of great catharsis this is a great way to start, but there might be other energies in you that need release that cannot be only laughed out. Sometimes after laughing awhile i choke up and have to cough these mysteries coughs--and afterwards i feel better, like Ive released junk through my lungs.
One of the best ways Ive found to help keep the laughter going is to clap. Even think about yourself on a stage being applauded and congratulated by an audience made up of eveyone youve ever liked and who has liked you. And YOURE in the audience, too. It works for me.

Laughter is also a cathartic release of all of the pain we sponge up as we go about our lives. The reason we cling to friends that make us laugh is because we silently recognize a common difficult experience that requires no explanation.

Unspoken understanding is the wellspring of humor.
